|Additional Position Information: * Represents Location Pay for full-time appointees. Hours of work 9AM-5PM; Days of week: Sunday-Thursday; Hours per week: 37.5 Work weekends on a rotation basis at the SUNY DMC main site (8:00 am. To 4:00 pm). Work at the SUNY at Bayridge site as needed|
Brief Description of Duties:
Reports to the Supervisor of the Correspondence Area. Ensure strict adherence to security and confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA. Will be cross-trained in all HIM functions The following systems are utilized in performing duties: Alpha scanning system, Healthbridge Electronic Medical Record, 3M Chart Tracking System and OmniMD. Troubleshoot problems with the scanning system or machine, ensure all papers are right side up facing the same direction, reposition pages on the system using arrow correct label with correct DOS. Prep charts for the Alpha System. File inpatient and outpatient papers appropriately in the corresponding medical record. Scan loose material onto the Alpha System. Sort Emergency Room records onto the Alpha System. File emergency Room records appropriately in the corresponding medical record. Do Master Patient Index / 3M search on all Emergency Room records whose chart is not found in file. Ensure that during the assembly of the medical record - patient's identifiers are on each page and that each page pertains to the same patient. Such as patient's name and medical record number. Analyze all recently discharged medical record(s) in an effort to identify all deficiencies according to departmental guidelines. Enter all deficiencies associated with the provider(s) into the 3MHISClient /Chart Fact system. Ensure that all charts processed are signed out in the 3MHISClient/Chart Fact system to the appropriate unit (s) in the department. Do Master Patient Index / 3M search on all loose papers. Assemble Inpatient and Outpatient charts. Assist with and complete special projects assigned by management/supervisor. May be required to perform tasks that involve lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling etc. Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the described task above, employee maybe required to perform related duties. Work weekends on a rotation basis at the SUNY DMC main site (8:00 am. To 4:00 pm). Work at the SUNY at Bayridge site as needed.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
REQUIRED: One (1) year of experience in Health Information Management and a comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology. Must have strong electronic system experience; strong interpersonal skills necessary to address physician and staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PREFERRED: Associates degree with two (2) years related work experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in Health Information Management.
