Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Project Leader, the Lead Clinical Programmer - Analyst is charged with providing leadership for the coordination, implementation and management of Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) Applications and other Clinical Information Systems (CIS). This position requires active participation in the planning, design, development/building, training, implementation, communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information systems. This may require support through participation in 24 hour on-call rotation. The Clinical Analyst will work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, within all departments in the Information Systems division, and all other departments or groups, campus-wide, as necessary, in problem-solving issues related to clinical information systems. Duties include: Designs, develops, modifies, and tests application programs and procedures of moderate to high complexity. May lead small projects and/or supervise the work of lower level Programmer-Analysts. Adheres to established application coding standards. Participates in and conducts peer reviews of application code. Analyzes user processes and procedures and documents functional requirements. Prepares functional and technical specifications for programs and procedures of moderate to high complexity. Provides ongoing end user support which may also include 24 hour on-call rotations. Works as needed, beyond normal scheduled hours to meet project deadlines. Analyzes operational and technical problems to determine the root cause and propose solutions. Identifies test criteria, prepares and stages test data, and participates in system and integration testing. Prepares end-user, computer operations and help-desk documentation, adhering to established documentation standards. Conducts end-user training. Establishes good working relationships with users, managers, subordinates, and peers. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: Bachelorís Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in programming, Allscripts Sunrise Applications and experience within a Health Care environment in addition to clinical operations experience to support, implement and extend the capabilities of the Eclipsys Sunrise XA Clinical Manager (SCM), Order Entry (CPOE) system, Medication Management and Clinical Documentation, etc. Pharmacy /SMM and Orders/Order set configuration experience. Knowledge of 1 or more programming languages, specific to Allscripts Sunrise Applications, of the specific application software supported. Knowledge of software and tools required to support Allscripts Sunrise Applications such as programming tools, application tools, operating system software, database software, and other 3rd party products. Knowledge of functional areas supported, including basic concepts and terminology, automated processes and procedures. PC applications, including Word, Excel and Visio.Must be able to analyze and resolve problems and communicate with end users and management in a non-technical manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
