Brief Description of Duties:
Reports to: Director of Evidence in Practice Information Center (EPIC). RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Librarian will be embedded at point of care at University Hospital and its affiliated hospitals to facilitate the use of and integration of information resources to support diagnosis, treatment, ACGME competencies and meaningful use at point of care through participation in attending rounds, morning report, journal clubs, m and m conferences, clinical discussions, hospital information system design, and grand rounds as assigned. Provide instructional support to learn information seeking skills to assist clinical staff in finding, critically appraising and using information resources. Select and evaluate subject based materials related to evidence-based healthcare to support Institution goals and objectives such as meaningful use as defined by ACA, AHA, ACGME competencies, LCME among others. Participate with administration and faculty to integrate Library resources within the electronic medical record. Participate in planning, policy formation and departmental decision making relating to health science services, collections and new technologies. Participate in supporting the library in creating and providing clinical information resources to the curriculum. Participate and work with all personnel involved in consumer health. Perform scholarly research and provides service at the institutional and professional levels as related to assignment in accordance with tenure and promotion criteria. Consult with colleagues in the Evidence in Practice Information Center regarding evidence-based instruction for the Institution.

|All successful candidates must undergo various background checks, maintain credentials required for continued employment and adhere to the SUNY-DMC UHB Principles of Behavior. Clinical Faculty and Allied Health professionals must receive and maintain Medical Board authorization.|
EDUCATION: Masters degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school, and advanced degree in a clinical field. At least 5 years or relevant professional clinical experience in a health service facility. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Strong commitment to client-focused service. Extensive knowledge of medical terminology. Understanding of and enthusiasm for clinical medicine and evidence based healthcare. Clinical searching skills including experience searching evidence based medicine resources and critical appraisal of clinical and consumer health resources. Build relationships with stakeholders in providing patient centered care. Skills in suggesting and creating special projects and program to further the effective use of clinical information resources throughout the medical center. Proven ability to develop education and training in information seeking skills and research tools. Demonstrated ability to partner with other library staff, clinical informationists, clinical faculty and hospital personnel to increase information access within the electronic health/medical record, meaningful use, medical education and research on clinical information. Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the integration of new technologies, including mobile technology, into the delivery of information services. Ability to work effectively with all levels of library client-faculty, researchers, clinicians, students (professional, graduate and undergraduate), administrators and staff. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. Initiative, flexibility, and the ability to adapt and work creatively in a rapidly changing environment. Interest in contributing to the profession via research, publication, presentation, and service.
